The Oradea railway line rehabilitation project, carried out by CFR S.A., is one of the most important investments in Romania’s railway infrastructure. With a total length of 166.44 km, of which Lots 1 and 2 account for 66.94 km, the project aims to electrify the line and modernize both the infrastructure and superstructure to allow speeds of over 100 km/h. The estimated completion date is August 2026, and the works will contribute to the development of a modern, safe, and efficient railway network.
The Need
The beneficiary required durable, high-quality solutions for the modernization of the railway infrastructure, in compliance with current safety and performance standards. A partner was needed that could provide certified products and ensure efficient implementation in line with technical and environmental requirements.
The Challenges
The project involved complex coordination among multiple companies, strict deadlines, and logistics management for delivering materials to the construction site. In addition, certain products required AFER certification, while the production and delivery of prefabricated elements had to be synchronized with the pace of construction works in order to avoid delays.
Our Involvement
Two companies from the CRH Romania group were involved in this project: TehnoWorld and Elpreco. TehnoWorld ensured the protection and management of utilities by supplying drainage and sewerage solutions, while Elpreco contributed to the safety and reliability of the infrastructure by replacing outdated concrete components with modern prefabricated elements.
The Solution
TehnoWorld supplied corrugated pipes and gaskets of various diameters for high-efficiency drainage, as well as corrugated pipes for sewerage systems, selected for their durability and ease of installation. Elpreco provided prefabricated concrete manholes, essential for the structural integrity and longevity of the drainage system, as well as prefabricated elements for railway platforms. All products met the technical requirements and environmental standards, and deliveries were completed according to schedule, ensuring the continuity of the works.
