Rehabilitation of the Oradea railway line

Integrated solutions for modernizing railway infrastructure

The Oradea railway line rehabilitation project, carried out by CFR S.A., is one of the most important investments in Romania’s railway infrastructure. With a total length of 166.44 km, of which lots 1 and 2 total 66.94 km, the project aims to electrify the line and modernize the infrastructure and superstructure to allow speeds of over 100 km/h. The estimated completion date is August 2026, and the works will contribute to the creation of a modern, safe, and efficient railway network.

Challenges

The project involved complex coordination between multiple companies, strict deadlines, and logistics management for the delivery of materials to the construction site. In addition, certain products required AFER certification, and the production and delivery of prefabricated elements had to be synchronized with the pace of work to avoid delays.

Our involvement
Two companies from the CRH Romania group were involved in this project: TehnoWorld and Elpreco. TehnoWorld ensured the protection and management of utilities by providing drainage and sewerage solutions, while Elpreco contributed to the safety and reliability of the infrastructure by replacing outdated concrete components with modern prefabricated elements.

The solution
TehnoWorld supplied corrugated pipes and fittings of various diameters for high-efficiency drainage, as well as corrugated pipes for sewerage systems, chosen for their durability and ease of installation. Elpreco supplied prefabricated concrete manholes, essential for the structural integrity and longevity of the drainage system, as well as prefabricated elements for railway platforms. All products complied with technical requirements and environmental standards, and deliveries were made according to schedule, ensuring continuity of work.
